Chalkie Davies
Welsh-born Davies worked as a staff photographer at NME from 1975 to 1979, shooting numerous iconic covers including bands like The Clash, The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. In 1980, he helped launch ‘The Face’ magazine. In the late 70’s and early 80’s he also shot record covers for Thin Lizzy, Elvis Costello, The Specials, The Pretenders, Pete Townshend and David Bowie.

Piet Mondrian
Born in 1872, the Dutch painter Mondrian was a key figure in the development of abstract art. His early painting was quite naturalsitic but in the late 1890s he began to experiment with abstraction. Mondrian died in 1944, and his work had a profound influence on decorative and advertisement art from the 1930s onwards.
